Brokers can view child company shipments

Brokers may find it tedious to look in the shipments tab for new shipments, then switch to all the child customer accounts and check for any new shipments there. That won't be necessary any more. Just go to the shipments tab and click on "Customer shipments." The link is right under the "Template manager" link. Now the list of shipments will include all shipments from child customers. There's an extra column to show which customer it comes from. This feature is only available to Brokers.

There's a new option when setting up user accounts. Check the "Rate only" box and this user can run rates, but can't save a BOL. This was requested by one of our customers.

Another minor change has occurred in the Reports tab. When generating a report, you can limit it to a single user. There was also a minor change when creating a BOL. You are required to enter either Handling Units or Packages. Using both is best, but you have to at least have one of them.

When a user deletes, edits or recalculates a BOL, another email notification is sent out. The subject of the email will indicate that it is [Updated] or [Deleted] so that it is not mistaken for a new shipment.

New Sales Site

Video pageThe front page no longer takes you straight to the rate page. You will now find some information about the application, including demo videos (screencasts), testimonials and a contact page so interested parties can get more information.

The video section features several short videos showing how to get rates, save BOLs and run reports. Prospective customers may find these videos to be a good introduction to the software. The sales team can use them in their presentations. As more videos are added, this may even become a training tool.

The new site also includes this news section. When we add new features to the software, we'll post about them here. It will serve as a record of how the application is advancing over time and when certain features were added. We can use the comments section of each post for questions and discussion.

New Customer Metadata

Ever wondered how long a customer has been in our database? Or maybe there's a new customer and you don't know who created it. Those won't be a problem anymore. Now when a new customer account is created, the date and user is recorded. This only applies to new customers, but if you have the date and user of an old customer and want this data added for them, just send them to me (Danny).

Quotes Tab

Broker customers can email quotes to their customers, and now those quotes are saved in the Pending Quotes tab. If the client accepts the quote, then you can go to this tab, find the quote using the Quote ID that was in the email and click "Create BOL." You will be shown a list of carriers that can move the load for your quoted price or less. Just choose the carrier and create a BOL. No need to start the rating process over. If the client does not accept the quote, it can be removed using the "Delete" link. However, this is optional because after the expiration date, the quote is deleted automatically.

Recalculate a Rate

After a BOL is created, there may be some details, such as the date,
items and accesorials that need to be changed. These could affect the rate, so to change them, use the Recalculate link. You'll be taken back to the rating screen where you can add edit the accessorials, items and ship date. After saving your changes you'll be returned to the Shipment details screen and the new rate will be reflected in the Rate Details section.

Email Quote

Brokers may want to email a quote to a customer and have them sign it and fax it back. After choosing a carrier from the Rate Results screen, brokers can click on the button labeled 摘mail Quote. Enter the following required information into the form that appears.

  • Email address of the person you want to receive the quote
  • Your email address
  • Your fax number
  • Expiration date for the quote

For the expiration date, you can use the pop-up calendar, type the date yourself, or enter text (e.g., today, tomorrow, 3 days).
The next three fields are optional

  • Stackable
  • Rate
  • Special Instructions

If the freight is stackable, check the box so that the quote reflects that. You may enter your own rate if you want to quote a price to your customer that is different from what was calculated. If you have any special instructions or notes for the customer, enter them in the last field. If there is a more expensive, but faster rate available, you can mention it here.
Click 鉄end to send the email.
